Ryan's First Haircut

I LOVED Ryan's curls...I thought that they were awesome! It took me a long, long time to actually ponder the idea of a hair cut. I mean..he had ringlets...loved them! :) But, they were getting long...and very tangly. I have been using detangler for a while, and was getting tired of fighting the mess. So, I agreed to get his hair cut. I feel like I have been ready for about 2 weeks. It was still hard though. Part of it was that this means he is growing up and becoming less of a baby. Something I'm sure I will fight his whole life. :) Even though he didn't do very well through the hair cut, it was still a memorable experience.

We took Ryan to a kids salon called Pig Tails and Crew Cuts. It was awesome. I don't think I'll ever pay that much for a hair cut again, but for the first, it was fun. He sat in a fire truck, watched Curious George, had bubbles blown at him and had a lollipop. This place is genious! Here is day:

The ringlets...I will miss them :(
Waiting for our appt. They had a train table...Ryan LOVED it! :)

siting in the cool fire truck...he was super excited about that part! :)

still doing well! :)

And then.....

he was not a fan of the actual hair cut....

made me sad :(

even the lollipop didn't help...but he held on tight to it. :)

they tried bubbles too...they were really great!

And when we were done...he lived through it and enjoyed his lollipop :)

Afterwards...we went to our favorite park at Liberty Station in Point Loma..here he is sportin his new hair:

Another milestone: First Haircut on December 2, 2011. I will miss your curls, but I love your new 'big boy' look as well. We love you so much, and are so blessed to be able to experience life with you!

Christmas pictures :)

It's that time of year again...time to order the Christmas cards! :) We were so lucky to have friends in our small group who are professional photographers! We had them over for breakfast, and they took our pictures...I like that arrangement. :) We had a lot of fun, and am super happy about how they turned out. Enjoy :)

Halloween 2011-Rock On! :)

Halloween was a blast this year! Such a contrast from last year. It's pretty cool to think of how much has changed in a year and what God has blessed us with! Last year, we were very new to San Diego, had hardly any friends, and no idea what to do with Ryan. We ended up dressing him up and taking him to a church carnival, but he was too little to do anything and we didn't know anyone. It was kind of sad. This year on the other hand, was great! Our good friends down here invited us just a few blocks away to come and have Halloween with them. The neighborhood was blocked off by security, so no cars could come in and the trick or treaters can roam the streets safely. I was shocked at how many kids there were. There were literally hundreds on kids on the street. :) Our friend's family had set up chairs in their driveway with a TV with the Charger's game on (something I'm learning about San Diego....everyone loves the Chargers). We had delicious gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup for dinner and then took Ryan around trick or treating. Before I explain that...here are some cute pictures in front of our house of our little guitar!

I had to bribe Ryan with m&m's to actually get into the costume :)

more m&m's please! :)

Saying hello to Mr. Jack O Lantern

seriously...how is this not hilarious?!

I think he knows he looks good :)

Here are some pictures from the night. Ryan did awesome trick or treating! He really doesn't get candy yet...the m&m's were a very special treat, so he didn't know what the candy was, but he liked going and seeing all the fun pumpkins and everyone dressed up. He made us laugh so much as he raced down the street to the next house, and also when someone gave him a piece of candy, he said thank you, and put it back in their bowl! Such a funny little guy!

Eating our yummy grilled cheese

Ryan had his very first lollipop...he loved it! Even wanted to eat the stick

yum!

He was super excited about the huge pumpkins!

Thanks Daddy for taking our pictures!

Our good friends Krissy and Dan walked with us :)

trick or treat!

Ryan was so excited about everything...maybe because he's never out at night...but we sure did have fun!

Happy Halloween 2011 from the Ekk's :)
